History
McDonough Holland & Allen PC traces its roots to the formation of two partnerships in 1953: McDonough, Schwartz, Allen & Teichert, and Holland and Wahrhaftig. In 1955, the firms merged to form McDonough, Holland, Schwartz, Allen & Wahrhaftig. After Felix Wahrhaftig’s death in 1969, the firm became McDonough, Holland, Schwartz & Allen, and incorporated as a professional corporation in 1974. In 1979, Milton Schwartz resigned to accept an appointment as Judge of the United States District Court, Eastern District of California. The firm name was then changed to McDonough, Holland & Allen. Martin McDonough, whose 50-year practice helped establish water and power law in California, passed away in 1987 at the age of 72. Alfred Holland, who practiced in the Business Services practice group, retired in 1987. Bruce Allen, who practiced in the Health Care and Business Services practice groups, retired in 1986.
