State Capital Group
MissionThe State Capital Group was formed in 1989 to track a new direction in American government—a shift of power from Washington, D.C. to the states. Several of the U.S. members are firms founded and/or led by former governors, attorney generals and state legislative and administrative agency leaders. The purpose of the State Capital Group is to enable member firms to share information of interest to clients on legal issues pending before legislative, judicial and executive bodies. As an example, McDonough attorney James L. Leet has chaired a committee of the State Capital Group members with expertise in limited liability companies (LLCs). Robert Rubin has chaired a committee of the State Capital Group members with expertise in Taxation. Committee members track and share information on LLCs and state tax issues in their home states, thus enhancing the ability of all committee members to advise individual clients about the benefits of using LLCs formed or doing business in other states as well as state taxes affecting clients in those states. International MembersReflecting the growing shift towards a global economy, the State Capital Group has expanded its membership to include law firms located in more than 100 international cities in Canada, Europe, South and Central America, the Caribbean, Asia and the Pacific Rim, Africa and the Middle East. |
