Professional Experience

Dave practices in the firm’s Real Estate Practice Group, where his emphasis includes entity formation for public and private investors, including partnerships, limited liability companies and corporations; real estate and corporate asset-based financings, workouts and restructurings, purchase and sale of businesses and real estate; and leasing. Dave is the lead attorney for the firm in its representation of the California Public Employees’ Retirement System and the California State Teachers’ Retirement System as real estate contract counsel, and represents other publicly- and privately-owned commercial lenders, developers and investors.

Representative Matters

Represents CalPERS in connection with the acquisition and development of its headquarters expansion on Q Street in Sacramento and other real estate investments and financings.

Represents CalSTRS in connection with the acquisition and development of its new headquarters building in West Sacramento.

Represents a privately owned developer of office parks and retail centers in connection with the acquisition, financing and leasing of substantial projects in Roseville, Rocklin, Folsom and Rancho Cordova.

Represents the Sacramento Kings in connection with financing secured by Arco Arena and short term and intermediate term loans arranged by the NBA credit facility.

Negotiated a construction loan and take out commitment obtained by the developer of a 25-story office tower in Sacramento

Represents institutional lenders in a variety of commercial lending transactions, such as construction loans, permanent loans, letter of credit issuances and loans secured by inventory, receivables and other personal and real property. Also represents lenders in loan workouts and restructurings.
