Jennifer S. McGeorge | Attorney Professional ExperienceJennifer McGeorge joined McDonough Holland & Allen PC in 2008 as a member of the Public Law practice group. Her practice is focused on all aspects of public law, with an emphasis on public agency and employment litigation. Jennifer represents and advises both public agencies and private parties with whom they interact. Prior to joining McDonough, Jennifer served as a Deputy City Attorney with the City of Sacramento. In that role, she prosecuted criminal violations of the Sacramento City Code, in addition to handling various civil matters on behalf of the City, including public nuisance abatements, receiverships, oppositions to Pitchess motions, and a variety of administrative hearings. She also provided advice on municipal matters to many city departments, including the departments of Police, Fire, Code Enforcement, Housing and Dangerous Buildings, Human Resources, Labor Relations, and Animal Care Services. Jennifer also gained valuable experience as a labor and employment law attorney at Cook Brown, LLP in Sacramento. While at Cook Brown, Jennifer represented both public and private employers in a variety of labor and employment law matters before California state and federal courts, including the litigation of claims for wrongful termination, discrimination, sexual harassment, breach of contract, and unpaid wages. Jennifer also provided day-to-day advice to clients on issues concerning drug testing, disability accommodations, leaves of absences, wage and hour, and decisions regarding disciplines and terminations. Representative MattersSuccessfully opposed countless Pitchess motions on behalf of public agency client. Negotiated many settlements of liens against private property in favor of public agency client. Successfully represented public agency client in numerous administrative proceedings concerning Housing Code violations. Represented private employer in wrongful termination, breach of contract and unpaid wage action in state court. Successfully obtained summary judgment in favor of the employer. Successfully resolved unfair labor practice charges filed against public agency client with the Public Employment Relations Board. Represented private employer in discrimination action in federal court. Successfully obtained summary judgment in favor of the employer. Successfully defended private employers in the arbitration of various disciplinary actions.
