SACRAMENTO OFFICE Human Resources Benefit Specialist McDonough is currently seeking an experienced HR/Benefit Specialist to support our 220 employees. This position will report to the firm's Human Resources Director. With strong hands-on experience in benefit and leave administration, specifically managing FMLA/CFRA/SDI/PDL/PFL/WC leaves, and exposure and knowledge of all other aspects of HR, the HR/Benefit Specialist is responsible for a wide variety of tasks including coordination of employee orientations/departures, maintaining the HRIS database, conducting salary surveys and communicating HR policies to all employees. The HR/Benefit Specialist will assist the HR department by autonomously supporting all functions of the HR lifecycle while maintaining an understanding of state and federal legislation and assisting in driving functional excellence around consistent application of policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will have at least five years experience in a HR position with a strong emphasis on benefits and leave administration, experience using and maintaining a HRIS, a bachelors degree or comparable work experience, outstanding verbal and written communication skills and a drive to streamline HR processes to maximize efficiency and effectiveness within the HR department. McDonough is seeking a docket specialist to support all docketing and calendaring for the office in accordance with all state and federal procedures. The docket specialist will be responsible for updating docket/calendaring with changing deadlines, dates and other data and then communicating those changes to staff and attorneys. The docket specialist is also responsible for producing calendar/docket schedules for the firm, generating status reports, logs and indexes, and training staff and attorneys on proper procedures related to docket/calendaring as required. Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years experience in the legal environment as either a calendar/docket specialist, litigation secretary or litigation paralegal with thorough knowledge of the litigation process, docketing requirements and court rules. Candidates must have excellent organizational skills, high attention to detail, effective communication skills and be able to work independently in a professional manner. Experience with ProLaw and/or Compulaw preferred. McDonough is currently seeking an experienced Secretary Supervisor to work in our Sacramento office. This position will work with the firm's Executive Director and the Sacramento Office Administrator and is responsible for managing 30 plus legal secretaries. Major responsibilities include monitoring and allocating workload, recruitment, orientation and training of new staff, coaching and conflict resolution, and performance development and evaluation. The Secretary Supervisor will also work closely with staff in the Document Production, Docketing, and Records departments. Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years experience supervising or managing legal secretaries in a large law office setting. Candidates should also have superior communication skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with all personnel. Candidates should have thorough knowledge of legal applications and technology systems and be able to use that knowledge to improve staff productivity and utilization, as well as the ability to implement and enforce established procedures. The Secretary Supervisor will need to work independently and effectively under pressure, assuring that attorneys have the support they need day to day by addressing present and future staffing needs in a timely manner.
