McDonough Artists
PHOTOGRAPHY AS ART
Many argue that photography is not art... in the true sense that the photo isn’t created, but rather copied from another time and place. But it takes a trained eye to capture a split second from a moment in time that will never take place again. Angles of light, expressions of face, shadows that dance as if to say," you can’t catch me": these are just a few of the facets that make photography as true an artform as those of paint and canvas, or ceramic and glaze.
We have many talented photographers among our staff and attorneys at McDonough; the following are just a few.
Rebecca Reed, HR Director:
Rebecca has been part of the McDonough team since 2005 and hasbeentaking photos seriously since 2000. The majority of Rebecca's photos are exhibited under a theme called "Simplistic Beauty." In her photos, Rebecca captures the pureness of simple images that can easily be overlooked such as a stone wall with a single flower or a storefront early in the morning. The majority of Rebecca's photographs were taken while bicycling in France and Italy and have been exhibited in several Sacramento and Plymouth locations.
Kevin J. Boyd, Graphic Designer/Photographer:
Kevin has been part of the McDonough team since 2003 and has been making photos since the early 90s. He is known mostly for his scenic work and his favorite photos are those images that capture the heart and spirit of the subject, allowing the viewer to really feel the emotion that was present at the moment the shutter was released.
His most recent travels took him to Florence, Rome and Venice,, Italy. In 2005, he traveled with his father to Ireland where in just ten days, he shot more than 32 rolls of film. “You just have to shoot first and ask questions later,” says Kevin of the volume. “Don’t edit your shots before you make them. Film is cheap, the trip wasn’t! You’re not likely to come back soon, so capture every last detail you can while you have the chance.” You can see more of Kevin's work here.
