The attorneys in McDonough Holland & Allen's Public Law Practice Group represent public entities and private parties throughout the state in municipal and public law matters.

Members of our Public Law group serve as city attorneys and district general counsels in a number of communities, and the firm is special counsel to many cities, counties, regional agencies, school districts, special districts and joint powers agencies. From elections to employment law, public works to Political Reform Act, McDonough works to resolve all types of municipal concerns. Our experienced trial and appellate attorneys competently handle any litigation that arises.

McDonough's public law attorneys are experts in such matters as land use and environmental issues, employment disputes, conflicts of interest, affirmative action controversies, labor relations, public works contracts and eminent domain. In addition to our public clients, we also represent numerous private parties in their relations with local government entities at both the administrative level and in the trial and appellate courts. Representation has included matters pertaining to environmental law, land use, eminent domain and employee relations.

Our public law attorneys belong and contribute to many organizations, including the League of California Cities, California State Association of Counties, Bay Area City Attorneys Association and Continuing Education of the Bar Governing Committee. They are frequent lecturers, seminar teachers and writers on various municipal law topics, and one attorney is a co-author of Lobbying, PACs, and Campaign Finance: 50 State Handbook, published by West Publishing Company and is updated annually.
