Redevelopment

McDonough Holland & Allen's redevelopment attorneys have represented both public entities and private property owners and developers throughout California, Nevada, Idaho and Oregon. One attorney in the practice group is general counsel for the California Redevelopment Association, and is active in drafting legislation and representing individual redevelopment agencies before the State Legislature. In addition, practice group members are experienced trial and appellate attorneys in all aspects of redevelopment issues.

We serve many agencies as special counsel, providing day-to-day advice and formal opinions to clients. We participate in the formulation, adoption and implementation of redevelopment plans and projects and negotiate, draft and review development agreements, leases and other related documents. We also assist agencies in structuring the financing of redevelopment projects, utilizing federal grants, agency participation in profits, certificates of participation, lease and parking revenue, assessment districts, and the use of tax increment financing of agency notes, various types of bonds, and city loans and advances.

MHA's redevelopment attorneys are active in organizations such as the California Redevelopment Association, American Planning Association, the Urban Land Institute, the International Council of Shopping Centers, the American Bar Association Committee on Land Use and the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials. We frequently serve as speakers, instructors and visiting professors at national and state seminars, conferences and institutions, and several members of the redevelopment group have co-authored Redevelopment in California, a comprehensive guide to redevelopment law covering the latest developments in statutory and case law.
